We are delighted to announce that we received our first grant! It’s not all that easy to get a grant if you are a for-profit corporation, but the Regional Development Corporation provides microgrants to businesses in seven northern New Mexcio counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Taos and the municipalities and Native American Pueblos therein. Our goal, say the RDC’s website, is to sustain and assist developing businesses in Northern New Mexico with job creation and diversifying the region’s economy. In this case, they will buy a $2,900 filter that we need for our aquaponics system! THANK YOU, RDC!

We must ahve said somehting inspriring in our application. Soon after receiving word of the grant, we were invited to attend Val Alonzo’s festive “Thank You” party. He had been executive director of the RDC and was retiring after a highly successful career. The RDC will certainly miss Val, but it did seem as though he ws putting the economic-development organization in great hands on his way out. THANK YOU, VAL!
