Produce

The motivation behind this effort—the reason you are reading this—and the funny thing, too (since, after all, it’s only lettuce), is how delicious it is.

In our experience, people who tasted aquaponically grown produce enthusiastically enjoyed it, but it was not until our 2020 survey, which revealed that out of 170 households 88% “loved” the flavor, 12% “liked” the flavor, and zero chose indiffernce or expressed disatisfaction on a multiple-choice question. It’s delicious not only due to our growing environment but also because of our goal to harvest at dawn and deliver by noon. It’s also as good or better for the planet than 99% of what you might find on the shelves of the typical supermarket. Please give it a try!

After we get our delivery system up, we’ll offer other products from our farm and from other local farms. BTW, we'll always be GMO-free and toxic-pesticed-free!

Fish

Our clean, never-frozen, GMO-free tilapia can be flavored to delight every palette and doesn’t have that “fishy” smell. Chefs love it for these reasons, but tilapia has a bad reputation due to the questionable environments it sometimes come from. Fortunately, we control the environment for our fish, so we never worry about metals, sewage, other pollutants, or overfishing.

Due to every fish’s extremely efficient ability to convert food into flesh, consuming fish is typically better for future generations than eating birds, pigs, sheep, cows, etc. It’s also the case that most fish have to eat other fish—which puts pressure on our oceans. The great news is that tilapia can eat a meatless diet. Meanwhile, many fish species dislike crowded environments, but the chance of fish fights goes up when tilapia are put in spacious conditions. With so many witnesses looking at them in a proverbial fishbowl, they seem happier and better behaved.

Gifts

We offer two ways for people to give local, tasty, healthy, fresh, and “green” food. One way allows people to purchase a head or more of lettuce for a needy household in town. Through our nonprofit partners, households in need will get this awesome product and service. The second way provides gift certificates in the form of subscriptions for neighbors, friends, and family within our delivery area. The best way to be part of our mission is to subscribe, give to a needy neighbor and/or give a gift subscription to someone you love! (Gifts are not yet tax deductible.)

Etc.

As soon as we can, we will start to deliver products from regional farmers and processors. The USDA defines “local” as within a 400-mile radius or within a state’s borders, whichever is greater. We think this definition is not in accordance with common English because it makes Denver products “local” in Santa Fe. We hope our subscribers tell us which “Etc” products they’d like and at what times of year, but our offerings will always be connected to our mission to help secure the future of food close to home.
