Apologies for the long wait for any “news,” but there hasn’t been much. We are still trying to obtain a building permit. It’s been a long time since the city approved a commercial greenhouse. Unless you are in a heavy-industrial zone, you need special permission for any commercial greenhouse larger than 750 sq ft. (about the size of the average one-bedroom home). Getting that permission was a six-month process, but now the building-permit process has officially taken longer thanks to about 20 different issues too frustrating to name. Fortunately, we will get a building permit soon and then proceed as fast as possible.

Behold, the seeds of a new generation in agricultural development and food distribution that bridges the gaps among rural, Tribal, and urban communities, creates STEM jobs, and contributes to the health of local people.
About 30 households subscribed for a season or a year back in the late fall when we sent out a couple of emails and were interviewed on a few local radio shows. This was so nice to see: people ordering food from a farm that does not yet exist. What’s even better is that all of the people who have already subscribed haven’t even asked what’s up or where’s my lettuce? To them, we will always be grateful, and in fact we will soon be announcing a way that we will be thanking them with FREE basil. Stay tuned, and subscribe now if you want to get a couple of FREE basil deliveries, too!
